Responsibilities

The Women Empowerment and GBV Team Leader will be responsible for the planning, monitoring and supervision, implementation of the activities in the women empowerment and GBV activities. Responsible for ensuring the accountability toward the served community, and that all provided services and activities are in line with center principles. Responsible for staff development and capacity building. Developing and updating activities materials. Provide administrative support and further technical support to the team in the center.

Program Implementation:

– In collaboration with the case managers, the team leader will be responsible for the supervision of GBV social workers, PSS counselors, activity assistants Community mobilizers.
– Assist in the development of weekly work plans, monitoring of activities and support GBV community workers/GBV psychosocial workers in the completion of planned activities.
– Supervise, monitor and conduct weekly exercises, discussions, coordinate group discussion sessions and role plays with community leaders, students and youth to educate and mobilize communities to appropriately prevent and respond to GBV incidences occurring in the community
– Assist in compiling statistics and weekly activity reports as per the program target objectives with guidance from GBV Officer
– Assist in supervising and provide training, leadership, mentorship, and other technical support to GBV community workers/GBV Psychosocial workers within MRFS GBV program to ensure all activities meet best practice standards.
– Assist in strengthening and maintain networks with community leaders and groups to ensure that survivors receive compassionate support from the community and encourage greater communication, and coordination with partners (protection, health, legal, and psychosocial sectors).
– Participate in awareness-raising and/or sensitization campaigns on IMC’s programming outreach teams.
– Support GBV social workers in case management referrals and follow ups at the community level and in identifying and referring all individuals who report GBV related incidents to the GBV social workers
– Provide guidance to centre staff regarding the safe, confidential, and timely referral of survivors to services in accordance with survivor-centered principles.
– Ensure timely submission of all program reports including weekly, monthly, quarterly, interim and yearly based on agreed deadlines and ensure proper filing.
– Ensure staff support and debriefing processes are in place, and that staff safety planning is conducted and regularly updated.

Management:

– Supervise directly and provide ongoing mentoring and support to the staff of the women and girls empowerment centres.
– Assist and mentor staff in their professional development and foster a positive team spirit in order to promote innovative and high-quality programming.
– Collaborate with team members to establish performance objectives, conduct regular performance appraisals, and establish a mechanism for team feedback.
– Recruit and assess new team members.
– Identify and develop strategies for team and individual capacity building.
– Ensure that staff members understand and promote the consensus method, rather than the majority method, when applicable.
– Monitor and promote the center’s staff’s well-being and healthy team functioning.
– Consult with the center’s staff and members to discuss and develop customised feedback mechanisms for improving staff care.
– Ensure that all staff adheres to best practices when working with women and girls who have experienced GBV.
– Work constructively within a team
– Develop, implement and promote effective team communication techniques and systems, including regular senior staff meetings.
– Assist women and girls in identifying their needs, interests, and priorities.
– Develop and implement activities that are age- and vulnerability-appropriate.
– Collaborate closely with centre and partner staff to develop activities that address the needs and priorities of women and adolescent girls.
– Ensure that women and adolescent girls are supported and encouraged to attend and participate in centre activities, and that participants are consulted about planned activities.
– Collaborate with staff and members to identify and implement measures to promote women’s and girls’ ownership.
– Support / Establish and monitor mechanisms for feedback and consultation with women and girls.
– Ascertain that all necessary financial, logistical, human resource, and other administrative documentation is completed and submitted accurately.
– Create, maintain, and update detailed work plans that support and accomplish activities
– Develop and support the implementation of service mapping, as well as assisting case managers in making appropriate referrals.
– Oversee daily/weekly data collection to ensure that data is handled safely and ethically

Development of Programmes:

– Collaborate on the development of GBV curriculum, tools, and other resources.
– Organize focus groups for women and girls to identify new needs and priorities.
– Observe, identify and document changes in community dynamics and trends in gender roles within the community.
– Participating with assessments, identifying potential protection concerns, analyzing the results, and providing feedback.
– Support in designing programme concept notes and proposals for GBV intervention.

Coordination:

– Participate in coordination meetings and presentations on behalf of the women and girls’ empowerment centre.
– Collaborate with the mobile unit for women and girls’ empowerment to coordinate activities and intervention plans to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive intervention.
– Participate in women’s forum meetings and ensure that action points are discussed with centre staff to inform activities.
– Identify opportunities for strategic collaboration and carry out activities in conjunction with other service providers.
– Maintain effective collaborations with relevant actors and other service providers, particularly in the area of GBV intervention.

Conformity and Integrity:

– Promotes and fosters a compliance and ethical culture throughout International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a thorough understanding of and adherence to International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards.
– Maintains the highest level of integrity in all aspects of his or her work.

– Collaborate closely with SARC
– Become familiar with and adhere to all IMC policies, including the Code of Conduct and SEA.

Qualifications

– Degree in social work, sociology, psychological counselling.
– At least two years in GBV program management including GBV case management.
– Strong communication skills, with good understanding of relevant cross-cultural issues.
– Fluency in Written and spoken English is essential.
– Good team development skills.
– Qualitative and quantitative reporting skills.
– Strong problem-solving attitude.
– Attention to detail and ability to produce timely and high-quality work.
– High level of flexibility, responsiveness, and reliability.
– Ability to work under pressure, and time management skills.

Specific Vacancy Requirements
– Clear understanding of gender, human rights, and issues surrounding violence against girls.
– Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, prioritize work under pressure.
– Experience working on women empowerment programs in an NGO
– Experience in team management, supervision, coaching and training teams.
– Experience working with donor funded projects.
– Understanding of best practices in GBV response and GBV primary prevention and risk reduction.
– Demonstrated experience in proposal writing, reporting and implementation.
– Demonstrates commitment toward a healthy and supportive working environment.
Demonstrates ability and commitment toward diversity and inclusion.
– Demonstrated experience in project cycle management including proposal writing and budget management.
