Duties and Responsibilities
Under overall direction of the Team Leader for the Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Essential Services portfolio and the supervision of the Project Manager of the Energy unit, the technical project officer will work in close collaboration with the Project team for the attainment of the following:
Provide technical advice and doing technical tender evaluation for projects related to energy unit (rehabilitation of electricity grids, power plants, pumping stations…..).
provide technical follow-up on the implementation of energy projects, including regular travel (where security permits) to the Target Areas.
Review the initial designs of renewable energy projects received from the field, evaluate them and assess its feasibility both technically and economically.
Follow up technically with the local authorities and the field team to prepare a proper design and tender documents.
Provide technical follow-up for implementing projects related to the Energy Unit and attending meetings on site when needed.
Monitor implementation effectiveness of the projects.
Advise on the rehabilitation of energy infrastructure in some specific areas taking into account on-going work on planning, infrastructure rehabilitation and restoration of basic services.
Carry out the infrastructure assessments in specify areas in accordance with UNDP developed infrastructure strategy.
Provide all reports, deliverables and communications in English or Arabic as needed.
Provide written feedback as needed.

Required Skills and Experience
|

Education:
- Master’s degree in mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field;
- A first-level university degree in combination with 2 years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience in the electricity projects implementation, bid preparation and evaluation of similar projects;
- Relevant experience in Local/Regional/International context.
Language Requirements:
- Excellent proficiency in English and Arabic.
