The overall work will be with and under the supervision of the Communication unit with a focus on the Joint program communication products. The intern will:

Support in developing high quality and innovative communication materials

Support in developing a visual identity for the resilience approach (Girls shine module, Social norms pilot, The EMAP, Joint program, and other projects and modules)

Support in documenting the project best practices and lessons learned for the resilience approach

Keeping the calendar of the international days and make sure that all international days relevant to UNFPA

mandates are marked on social media in consultation with the communication office and program officers.

Organize and update the photos, videos, and other communication products of the program units covering the resilience approach

Contribute to the communication production processes such as collecting human interest stories from the field, preparing audiovisual products, translation prepared, revise and edit human interest stories received from joint program interventions from two governorates Dier Ezour and Daraa

Update and reorganize the program Unit’s library

Manage publication requests in close coordination with communication unit and program budget holders

Prepare news and updates on the program’s achievements and implement activities in close cooperation with the IP communication staff and programm unit.

Designing procures, banners and UNFPA massages, in coordination with the program units and communication officer.

To ensure maintaining approval and verification from the communication officer on all the communication materials produced .

undertake other tasks that are required by the direct supervisor.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

Your Education: Active enrolment or recent completion of a bachelor level degree programme in a relevant field (e.g. media, journalism, marketing, social studies).

Your Experiences:

● Some experience in working with development agencies, including in volunteer capacity.

● Fluency in English. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.

● Strong analytical and writing skills in English & Arabic.

● Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members from different national and cultural backgrounds.

 

Learning Elements:

Upon completion of the assignment, and depending on its duration, the Intern will gain the following knowledge assets:

Increased understanding of the UNFPA and the Programme within UNFPA

Understand the UNFPA mandate and policies.

Understand UNFPA programme design and delivery mechanisms.

increased experience in communication and become familiar with the resilience related terminologies

Understand the dynamics of operational and programme support and communications to the field, and at the level of Damascus office

Learn UN technical language, working procedures, and coordination mechanisms

Write and formulate substantive documents

Network with UN colleagues

Work experience as a team member in a multicultural setting
