“At the embassy in Beirut, we are presently three posted diplomats from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and 10 local employees.
An essential tasks of the Embassy is to assist Danish citizens (and persons with a residence permit in Denmark) as swiftly and effectively as possible if they get into trouble in one of the three countries under our responsibility. We continuously follow and analyze developments in the security situation and in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen we regularly update travel advice to guide your stay and movement as best as possible.
The potential for economic cooperation and trade within the Middle East region is continuously improving and this makes it an interesting market for Danish companies and investors. A good number of Danish companies are already active, but there is scope for many more, and therefore our Trade Council has increased the Embassy’s capacity to promote Danish exports of Goods and Services. The Embassy will continue to deepen its knowledge of the local markets and will be ready to advise and assist Danish companies that wish to establish or expand business relations in the region. We are eager to match regional needs and demands with Danish expertise and resources.
Of course, we keep the Danish authorities updated on political, economic and humanitarian developments in the three countries and do our best to contribute positively to each country’s situation, through assistance projects and dialogue with local authorities and partners in civil society.
Promotion of cultural activities and outreach is also part of our job. We stand ready to assist all kind of initiatives within the cultural field to improve relations between people in Denmark and in Lebanon and Jordan. We hope the peace will soon reemerge in Syria. “
