About the consultancy:
Gender Radar developed a tool to analyse Syrian alternative media institutions’ written production from
a feminist perspective and determine areas of improvement for an intersectional feminist discourse with
focus on feminist presentation of women. The tool is an organized group of guidelines and principles
developed to guide the feminist critical discourse analysis of media materials. We are aiming at
expanding GR’s analysis scope by analysing visual and audio materials based on GR’s tool following the
critical discourse analysis methodology.
Under the supervision of Gender Radar Project Coordinator and the General Program Manager, the
consultant will develop the GR Analytical tool & methodology to fit with analysing visual and audio
media production.
Expected time of delivery: Ends of June 2021
Key responsibility for this consultancy:
● Develop GR exciting tool to analyse visual and audio media content.
● Ensure the developed tool is in line with a feminist critical discourse analysis methodologies.
● Ensure the developed tool is responsive to the target media institution’s nature of work and
products and the Syrian context.
● Ensure the developed tool is applicable through MAXQDA software.
● Train GR’s and SFJN’s team on using the tool effectively.
Personal qualifications:
● Knowledge of feminist critical discourse analysis methodologies.
● Knowledge of media discourse analysis from a feminist perspective.
● Analytical skills and the ability to prioritize.
● Ability to design and deliver online training.
● Result oriented and structured.
● Works well under pressure
● Fluency in Arabic and English languages, reading, writing and conversation.
