Jusoor-Cambridge Scholarship

About the Scholarship 


Since 2015, Jusoor has partnered with the Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust (CCEIT) to offer fully-funded master-level scholarships across a wide variety of disciplines. Two scholarships have been awarded to date. Awardees are committed to the redevelopment of Syria.

The Jusoor-Cambridge Scholarship is open to Syrian and Palestinian-Syrian men and women, with preference to those residing in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Türkiye, Egypt and Iraq.

Eligibility Criteria 

CANDIDATES MUST:

  • be Syrian (including Palestinian with Syrian Travel Document), have lived continuously in Syria prior to the current crisis, and be currently living in Syria or one of its neighbouring countries.
  • apply to take a Masters degree at the University of Cambridge, via the University’s online application process and by the published scholarship application deadline;
  • be offered admission by the University, and fulfill any admission conditions set by the University.
  • require financial support in order to take up the offer of admission.
  • show intent to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria. 
  • have a strong record of leadership and community engagement, as demonstrated through volunteer and/or work experience.
  • be willing to remain engaged with Jusoor’s community.
  • preferably not already have a master’s degree.

Funds Coverage

The scholarship offers full funding for flights, accommodation, a monthly living stipend and tuition. 

FAQs

PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE BELOW:

– How much is the scholarship award?
The scholarship includes full tuition and mandatory fees, as well as a living stipend sufficient to cover expenses while  enrolled in the academic program. English language or other exam fees will not be covered. If you would like to request financial assistance with the academic program application fee, please contact Cambridge University.

– How many awards will be given for this cycle?
One award will be given for the academic year starting in Fall 2023.

– When will I be notified of my application status?
Please note that the University of Cambridge oversees the selection process and will notify the awardee by June 2023.

– What master’s degree programs are eligible?
All master’s degree programs at Cambridge University are eligible except for MBA, MFin and MAcc courses. 

– How do I apply for the scholarship?
There is no separate application for this scholarship. All applicants who submit an application for a master’s degree program at the University of Cambridge and who meet the aforementioned eligibility criteria are automatically considered for the scholarship.

– What do you look for in the ideal candidate?
 We look for a balance of the following:
1) strong undergraduate GPA;
2) volunteer and/or work experience relevant to your field of study;
3) proven leadership ability as demonstrated through volunteer and/or work experience
4) willingness and demonstrated intent to contribute to the redevelopment of Syria.

Language Requirement

Candidates must meet the English Language Requirements of the University of Cambridge. 

Timeline

Open Date: 1 September 2022
Final Day to Accept Application: Please check your program’s page on the University of Cambridge’s website. Deadlines are usually throughout December and January.
Applicants are notified of their status: By June 2023
