“Equipping Youth Peacemakers: Using Evidence to Promote the SDGs” is a people-to-people diplomacy initiative providing young leaders with training and a robust network of like-minded changemakers. Our goal is to maximise socioeconomic impact and collaboration for peace. The project is being facilitated by Shughel Shabab (https://www.facebook.com/shughelshabab) and the AMENDS Global Fellows (https://amendsfellows.org/), with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
The program is based on the following questions:
1. How can we use evidence-based strategies to promote the sustainable development goals?
2. How can peacemakers use facts and statistics to support their work?
3. How can social changemakers partner with the private sector to increase their impact?
This program will offer:
-Training in evidence-based changemaking strategies from world-leading experts;
-Collaboration with a network of young peacemakers working in MENA;
-An opportunity to attend a 3-day conference in Amman, Jordan, with all conference, travel, and visa expenses paid (conference attendance is contingent on completion of the online portion of the program, and the event may be held online if COVID-19 requires)
Selected participants are required to:
-Commit to spending around 5 hours per month from December 2020 through March 2021 in online dialogues and training webinars;
-commit to attending a 3-day conference in April 2021, to be held in Amman, Jordan if COVID-19 allows and online if necessary (exact dates will be determined once the cohort is selected); and
-commit to creating and implementing an action plan promoting the SDGs, informed by the program (support will be available; action plans are expected to be completed within one year after the training conference).
You are eligible to apply if:
-you are a young (20-30 years old) changemaker promoting sustainable peace through a socio-economic initiative in MENA;
-you are from MENA, the Netherlands, or the United States and your changemaking work focuses on MENA;
